I really think they should have ended the movie better, with perhaps ALF going to see The Tanners again. He could be knocking on the door, then from a distance you see it opens and you could hear Willie say "ALF!" or something like it.

I think that Project ALF was a great ending and provided closure for the series. An attempt to tell a story after the events of Project ALF would be difficult, and hard to accept (from a fan's perspective). Not much can be done.

A prequel would be interesting .....

But isn't that essentially ALF ...
