INTERVIEWS | ASK ALF

Below are six questions that Paul Fusco, creator and voice of ALF, agreed to answer in an exclusive interview with ALF TV back in 2006. We are hoping to get the chance to do this with him again in the future.

6) From Derek Hepker, USA (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)

Q: One question that has always made me wonder is why don’t the cable networks and you get ALF running back on television for some re-runs or something? We all miss him, thanks for listening and hope to hear.

A: We have been seeking a cable outlet for the show once we got the TV rights
back from Hallmark---it seems there are not that many networks running 80's
tv shows so the market is very limited.

5) From Jeremiah Eis, USA (Manitowoc, Wisconsin)

Q: Mr. Fusco, I am curious to know what day you believe to be ALF's birthday. Alien Productions has trademarked or licensed materials showing three different dates in 1756 and 1757; those dates being August 12, October 2, and October 28. I would assume October 28 because ALF himself states that date in an episode of the sitcom and on the DVD set. Can you shed some light on this?

A: ALF had 2 birthdays (very common on Melmac) Oct.28 and Aug. 12 I believe
are the correct ones.

4) From Gerald Wagler, USA

Q: Why in the world does ALF get caught by the Alien Task Force at the end of season four? Also, why does it have to end like that? I think you should make a fifth season of ALF and bring him back, if it would be possible. Please answer my question as soon as possible, I'm dying to know. P.S. ALF is my favorite show that I have ever watched and I wish there would be a fifth season. It's so sad that ALF gets captured.

A: The reason ALF got caught by the Alien Task Force in the last episode was because we were supposed to do a 5th season for NBC and the premise would have been ALF living on a military base. It would have opened up the show to more story ideas and given more opportunities for ALF to react to different people. When NBC did not pick up the show we were supposed to do a one hour special to tie it all up---a change of management at NBC ended that hope. We were finally able to wrap it up with the ABC movie of the week PROJECT ALF.

3) From Justin, USA

Q: If ALF had so much gold why didn't he buy cats to eat?

A: Justin -- you are spending too much time trying to make sense out of all this.

2) From Marcus N., Germany

Q: Are there any more news about an upcoming ALF movie? http://www.movietome.com/movietome/servlet/MovieMain/movieid-123704

A: We are trying to get a ALF movie in the works that would tell of ALF's story on how he got to earth and landed in the Tanners household -- also we might have some interest to produce more ALF TV talk shows....Nothing is set yet on either projects. Thanks to you all for your interest in ALF.

1) From Mark Ames, USA (Greenfield, Massachusetts)

Q: My question is probably the same one everyone else will ask. But anyway, what does the future hold for everyone's favorite alien? Also thank you for the autograph you sent me back in January.
