2003 Ford Focus SVT - My New Ride!

Post by Admin »

Just bought this car today. It has a blown motor, but my brother is putting a replacement motor in for me. The body has 79,000 miles on it, and the replacement engine will have about 40-50,000 miles. This car is loaded with practically every option you can get on a Focus: 170HP Zetec engine, 6-speed manual transmission, HID headlights, anti-theft device, Euro package (SVT rims and other "sporty" lookin' things), Audiophile package (6-disc CD changer, subwoofer, etc.), leather and heated seats, tinted windows, moonroof, etc. Oh, and the fuel mileage is still very good (low 30's, mid to upper 30's on trips)...at least that's about what my brother gets with his. He has a car almost the same as this one (just a different color, and some of the options differ).

After all is said and done I will have paid $4000 for the car - not a bad price! My current car is a '94 Ford Escort with 250,000 miles, so it's a bit of an upgrade for me. It was such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up. Just wanted to show off my new ride!

Needs a waxing too...I'll be sure to post more pictures when the car is done.

It's alive!!! My brother found me a motor with 24,000 miles on it (got it from another car that was in an accident, the motor was the only good thing left in that vehicle). We put it in today. Now it's time to order my summer tires and get another set of rims. I took it out for a drive and it MOVES! I'm not a speeder, so I have to take it extra easy or I'll get a ticket. Never had a ticket before, and I don't intend on getting one anytime soon.

Cost me a little more than expected ($6000, but I have a 24,000 mile motor, 79,000 body, newer winter tires, and soon to come summer tires, two sets of rims, one set currently on the way, new clutch, new flywheel, and about a dozen other various parts) but I can't complain. I will have a video of the "maiden start-up" soon if anyone would be interested in watching it. I'm still excited! I definitely owe my brother BIG...it's nice to have an older brother who is a mechanic (I would have been paying at least a few thousand in labor costs I think...ouch).

So far I'm lovin' it!!! Only got pulled over once so far...it's a funny story (because I NEVER get pulled over). I follow all the traffic laws, drive safe, don't speed (well, I do go up to 5 MPH over...) and I still got pulled over. The state trooper said that my "exhaust was too loud". What? There's absolutely nothing wrong with my exhaust...it's 100% legal, has the muffler and catalytic converter, and the exhaust is made for the car...how am I supposed to change that??? Anyways, he came back to the car and told me that he was having "technical difficulties and couldn't give me my warning." In other words, I did absolutely nothing wrong. He saw a fast looking car so something MUST be wrong!!!
