ALF Convention 2011

Post by Bring Back ALF »

I have had an email from a guy that wants to host an ALF convention next year in New York City, he has bought a domain name and has a friend that knows Anne Meara and said she would be interested in attending and hopes to get other cast and crew members to attend.

I said I can help him promote and do some publicity and would like to attend. :D

He wants to know if anyone here would be interested in attending and needs help to organize?

I would most definitely be interested if it were during the summer (and did not conflict with my summer Army obligations/duties). I would also be interested in helping to plan/promote.

Would LOVE to! Only problem is getting there. I live in Atlantic Canada and I would need to save up a lot of money in order to get there.

To add on to my post:
If this does come to surface and plenty of notice is given for the date of the convention it would make it way more convienient for me to attend. I would give an arm and a leg to be able to attend an ALF convention! HA!

Oh yes, yes & yes! I would definitely want to attend this convention, and I would bring my girlfriend who is a fan as well.

Feel free to mention that I'd attend this event even though I live all the way back here in Sweden. I'm sure if you posted this at the German board, some of them would show some interest as well.

That’s great im glad its getting some interest, although I expect for the event to happen we need 50-75 people to attend. Do you think there are that many hardcore ALF fans in the world willing to attend an ALF convention in NY?

What would you like to see at the event?
Guest Stars
Q&A sessions

Memorabilia
anything else?

I'm sure that 50 people is a very realistic number that can be reached. What would really be the most amazing thing of all is if Paul Fusco would attend. That would be the pinnacle of any ALF fan's dreams!

If this does come off, i'd be interested in attending. Is it for charity? I think if it was you'd have a good chance at quite a few ALF related people attending. Also you really need the Fusco's blessing.

I'd consider whether NY is the best place to hold it. The majority of ALF related people are LA based, but there are some in or near New York. There's also an ALF related venue in LA its possible you could use. New York would probably be easiest though i guess, especially for international people travelling.

A charity event would be great we need to find out what charity is close to heart for Paul Fusco and get his blessing on the event itself?

I'm fine with LA been there a couple of times and loved it :D

ALF did stuff for two or three different charitys at least, but yes i think there is a specific one.

It's all down to the person/people organising it obviously as to what happens, but yes location is going to be key as to who turns up.

I definitely think some sort of small web site should be made for the event if it does ever become planned. It would be a good way for people to sign up to attend the event and get the latest news.

In order for an ALF convention to be truly "successful," I honestly believe that one day it would have to go through an entertainment company (i.e Creation Entertainment) that produces and organizes conventions. A small convention created by fans would be a good start, but I really do not see a chance for it to be profitable unless turned over to a company (companies such as Creation Entertainment have no problems promoting, selling convention tickets, or selling truckloads of merchandise).

It would be amazing if Creation got hold of it, their Star Trek conventions look very good.

To be honest I would be happy just to sit and chat ALF with a load of you guys in a bar! :D

The guy that originally emailed me about this has bought a web domain to advertise the event, (not sure what it is yet) I will contact him again to say there is interest and try and get him to post here. (he said he was a member of this forum) :D

To be honest, if it was a small convention and only once in a lifetime it would be amazing to me. Just to have one ALF convention would be a blessing.

I've never been to L.A., so that would be a great choice to hold this thing as well.

I'm the person who suggested the convention. Anne Meara is recovering from surgery at this time and am not sure how interested she would be. I think Paul Fusco lives in Connecticut. I'll see what is possible but the east coast might be more feasible for Paul and Anne.

Maybe there can be one on both coasts. I have a domain name which I can transfer to someone who can start a website for those interested. In the meantime I'll try to get one here more often.

Sorry to hear about Anne. Paul is definitely still east coast. I think aside from Anne he's the only one tho. Maybe John La Motta but i've lost trace of him. I know where most of the rest are. I think wherever it is, you could get a few.

Luke, aren't you the guy who had thousands of ALF things in your collection, or am I remembering things wrong?
