Rather than do stupid infomercials here in U.S. to generate the ongoing income necessary to support his extravagant lifestyle, ALF decided to diversify into numerous, successful, non-entertainment business ventures around the world.

That's the story I heard from guy sitting next to me at the bar last night; however, it is most likely that only ALF, his business manager, and his accountant know the truth for sure.
