Chat Night - March 25, 2007

Post by Admin »

Since the first chat night was a success I have scheduled the next one for March 25, 2007 at 11:00pm GMT (Forum Time) - here's how you can participate:

-Must be a registered member at the forum

-Login and go into your "profile" (link is on the top of the forum mainpage) and change your timezone to "GMT" - just make sure you know how your timezone relates to the GMT/Forum Time (myself for example - 11:00pm GMT turns out to be 5:00pm in my timezone). To find out the GMT/Forum Time just go to the forum mainpage - http://www.alftv.net/forum - and see what time it is!

-To enter chat just go to the top of the screen and click on "chat"

I have not sent all this information over the mailing list or sent a mass e-mail to all forum members yet...or even posted it on the main page of the website for that manner. I'd like to wait 2-3 days to do that. If the time needs to be changed (if it is a conflict for too many people) we'll change it first.

I have received a few private messages from forum members and it seems that 11:00pm GMT worked for most people. So if you haven't contacted me, or if you have and you have further comments and suggestions, please do so. In short, the time can easily be changed. Don't think you have to login at exactly 11:00pm GMT/FT, you can come a half hour or an hour later and it won't be a big deal.

Thanks!!!

Just go to the Index page, http://www.alftv.net/forum and compare forum time to your time. I'm in Wisconsin and 11:00pm GMT/Forum Time is 5:00pm for me (which I think is 6:00pm for you...you'd have to check on that one).

Hope to see you there!!!

To All USA Members:

GMT does not recognize "Daylight Saving Time", so suggest you wait until after Daylight Saving Time becomes effective Sunday, 3/11/07, to check time differential between 11:00 PM GMT and the actual time in your local time zone.

What time does this start in the UK? Would like to join in!
Why is the episode make 'em laugh uncut on the season 4 DVD syndication set? Strange

cynic,

Welcome to the Forum. GMT (now known as UTC) is same as "standard" local time in UK.; however, since UK will be changing to Daylight Saving Time early Sunday morning 3/25/07, UK local time will then be one hour ahead of GMT (UTC), so by my computations 11:00 PM GMT (UTC) will be midnight your time. Suggest that sometime during the day/evening on Sunday, 3/25/07, you compare your local time to GMT appearing at top of Forum home page just to be sure my computations are correct.

Hopefully, you are a "night owl" and midnight not too late for you to stay up and join us in the Chat session.

To All European Members:

If planning to particpate in upcoming Chat Session, remember all European Union countries will be changing to Daylight Saving Time early Sunday morning 3/25/07. Since GMT (now known as UTC) does not recognize Daylight Saving Time, be sure to take into account the additional hour time change when comparing your local time to GMT (UTC).

That's a good heads-up there Mike. Fortunately my computer automatically changed the time after midnight. I'm all set :)

mames507,

Think you may be confused about GMT (UTC) time vs. your local time. If I remember correctly from your past posts, you now live in Florida, USA. 11:00 PM GMT (UTC) time would be 7:00 PM your local time which (to me) does seem too late, even if you have to get up for work at 5:30 AM.

Chat Night is done - it was a bit slow...seems to have been a bad day. It might be good to try it again. Please let me know if you have any suggestions as to dates and times.

Thanks!

I am so sorry guys, I fell asleep about 30 minutes before chat night were going to start. I had been up for 36 hours straight. My girlfriend tried to wake me up but she said it was impossible, I was basically in a coma. I'm really sorry.
