Hi everyone!
I think ALF should get released on Blu-Ray. It seems that it isn't available in HD on any streaming services either, so a a physical Blu-Ray collection would be awesome!
I'd love to design the cover for it, HA!

ALF Should be on Blu-Ray!

Re: ALF Should be on Blu-Ray!
The issue here is that ALF was shot on video, not film. Given this, no HD master exists of the show. This is the case on a lot of other famous shows from the 70s and 80s (All In the Family, Golden Girls, Saved by the Bell, etc). Conversely, many shows of the era (some sitcoms like Cheers and Seinfeld, but mostly dramas) shot on film, like a movie, which allow pretty outstanding quality. Even I Love Lucy shot on film way back in the 50s.
Video was way cheaper, so in a show like ALF where they are doing many, many takes of each scene, it probably saved them significant money to shoot on video.

That's true. It would just be nice to have. I was on a site that sold bootleg Blu-Rays and they had ALF aswell. From the previews you could see the image had been stretched to be widescreen.

If there`s ever a blu ray release of this, here in Europe, I`ll probably get it, but I kind of prefer it to have that old, and grainy look.
