Captain EO

Post by samstokes80 »

Here's a random one for you - I saw Captain EO today at Epcot. I had heard about it, but I had never seen it before. Epcot apparently started showing it again after Michael Jackson's death.

This is vaguely related to ALF, because Brian's pet lizard was named "Captain EO."

That's odd. I was such a huge fan of Michael in the late 80's/early 90's I should have seen this, unless it was never aired in Sweden at that time, of course.

Here is a picture of the theatre in Epcot where they are showing Captain EO. They give you 3D glasses and the ground is equipped to shake and jolt with the action. There are also lights and scents and wind effects used in the auditorium to liven up the experience.

Yeah, it's a funny connection. As far as the show goes though, I'm not a huge fan. The jolting to the music is actually kind of cool, but the 3D is horrible. It's old-fashioned 3D of course, so by the end of the show you're eyes just kind of hurt. We go to Disney a lot, living only an hour or so away, and having Season Passes; I would love to see them update the 3D effects. Go on a ride like PhillarMagic at Magic Kingdom and you will see a world of difference!

We used to go there a lot when we lived in Tallahassee. Where do you live?

Clearwater, we're right next to Tampa. Being a FL resident definitely has its perks when it comes to theme parks.

Yeah, we had season tickets with the Florida resident discount when we lived in Tallahassee. We loved it!
