Hi,
You're gonna think I'm crazy, but the first time I run Star Walk application for iPad/iPhone, I looked for Melmac planet. Haha!!!
Nothing found, but I had to do it.
Do you know the Melmac's fictional place in the universe?
Thanks, and sorry for my bad English.
Cheers!

When it comes to planets, it's always difficult to say if they are fictional or not. Maybe Melmac hasn't been discovered yet--by us. On the other hand, perhaps ALF is based on a true story. How do we know Paul Fusco hasn't been harboring an extra-terrestrial all these years that has been the inspiration for ALF? Or...on second thought...what if ALF is a real A-L-F?? Maybe he's not a "puppet" as some say. Ever see the blooper reel included in the Season One DVD box set? THAT doesn't seem like a puppet to me, coming up with his own jokes, etc. I think you and your iPad/iPhone have hit on something. Check again for Melmac in a month or so. We'll see what the Space Station discovers.

Who has ever said that ALF was a puppet? I even have an autograph of his! How can a puppet write autographs for fans?ALFsince86 wrote:When it comes to planets, it's always difficult to say if they are fictional or not. Maybe Melmac hasn't been discovered yet--by us. No, he's definitely the real deal.

Reminds me of a Night Court clip.Who has ever said that ALF was a puppet?
Judge Stone to a defendant: "He's not real...just like ALF's not real."
Bull the bailiff: "WHAT!???!???????????"
I'll need to dig that episode out and put the clip on YouTube.

I wouldn't go looking for Melmac as it was, of course, destroyed in a nuclear holocaust in 1985 (Earth calendar). You could search the sky for a purple star (around which it orbited), but unfortunately Melmac was located in the Andromeda galaxy and there are no telescopes currently that are powerful enough to see individual stars in it, since it is so incredibly distant from our galaxy.
