#14: A Little Bit of Soap

Post by ALFicionado »

Production #1015 - 19 Jan 87

ALF decides to submit scripts for his favorite daytime soap opera and is very successful, unfortunately, his ideas are not original, they were taken from private conversations he overheard between Kate and her mother, Dorothy.

Written By: Laurie Gelman
Directed By: Tom Patchett

Guest Cast: Robert Pine (Husband on soap opera)

Recurring Role: Anne Meara (Dorothy Halligan)

Title: The title is derived from a 1961 song with the same name, first made popular by The Jarmels.

I must say I love this episode. I love the tension between ALF and Dorothy. XD And I love ALF's scriptwriting skills. The last line of his script, which goes something like "you didn't lose your best friend; your best friend's right here" (sorry for paraphrasing, my memory's poor) was really heartwarming.

This is probably my least favorite episode of the season, tied with Try to Remember parts 1 & 2, since those consisted mostly of clips from previous episodes. I gave this a 3-star rating. It's an okay episode as far as this season goes, but don't come close to most of the other episodes of the season.
