A Thanksgiving Tale

Post by Admin »

This was a TV special by Paul Fusco in 1983. Does anyone here have access to it?!?? I'm looking for it (for someone else) and would really like to get my hands on it for her.

Any help would be most appreciated, thanks!

There were actually six holiday specials that aired on Showtime in the early 80s that a group of folks who went on to work on ALF produced.

The specials were:

The Crown Of Bogg (Halloween)
A Thanksgiving Tale
Santa's Magic Toy Bag
The Valentine's Day That Nearly Wasn't
An Easter Story
Carl's Far-Out Fourth

Sadly, none of them are available on home video in any format.

There was also 1982's The Moonstone Gem - which, if memory serves, played on the early Disney Channel. (Don't hold me to that.) TMG was released on VHS by Media Home Entertainment in 1983 or 1984. Good luck finding that puppy.

Hope this helps answer the question.

Thanks Richard! That's some great information there. The only one I have from your list is Santa's Magic Toy Bag (also uploaded to my YouTube page). When time permits, I would very much like to track down all of them (which I'm sure would be a long shot).

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum, and I saw this post. I was wondering if anyone made any miracles happen with these specials yet?
I have The Crown Of Bogg, Santa's Magic Toy Bag and A Thanksgiving Tale on DVDR recorded from good quality VHS sources thanks to a friend, but I still can't find the rest. I didn't even know about the other 2, Carl's Far-Out Fourth and The Moonstone Gem, but since The Moonstone Gem is on VHS it shouldn't be as difficult to find. I have hundreds of Media original VHS tapes, those bottom flap tapes from the early 80's, but I don't recall ever seeing The Moonstone Gem in my collection. I do however remember seeing it at local video rentals when I was a kid, but back then I was more interested in horror movies than anything else.
Is there some reason that Paul can't release these? I could imagine there might be some kind of copyright issues with some of them, or maybe there isn't much of a desire to release them because I very rarely hear anyone mention them.
Regardless, they are timeless classics to me. If you watch The Crown Of Bogg you can see how Alf came to life, it's really amazing.

I'm sure you've already discovered this by now, but "A Thanksgiving Tale" is available on Youtube.

I suppose that's true, just to let you know the Amazon link to order "Santa's Magic Toy Bag" doesn't appear to be working.
