The individual season sets are around 14 euros at the moment. Im sure there will be a blu ray release when the film comes out :D

Still no seasons 3 and 4 in Australia. Might have to resort to buying from overseas to grab season 4 soon. The German Amazon looks like a good place to start. Thanks guys.

i wanted to know, just for my own benefit,
how much time is missing in the ALF series when comparing the unedited German DVDs by Warner Brothers to the half-assed lionsgate releases?

the reason that i ask, is that i was reading this over at Demonoid.me and i was shocked!

ALF - The complete and UNEDITED series [Torrent]
"When ALF was first released on DVD by LionsGate Studios in region 1, the fans were outraged...
A few tiny edits were still present but season one alone has EIGHTY minutes more video footage than the region 1 copy."

could not believe it, EIGHTY minutes !!

80 minutes is a lot! Definitely worth it.

Unfortunately, I really don't see a Blu-ray possibility for ALF... :(

About 2-4 minutes per episode is cut, sometimes even more. So that makes a lot of sense.

The full episodes are also on Youtube. Are these cut as well?

Another European special edition is released, this time a four season uncut box set with plush ALF doll, looks nice.

Type this into ebay.co.uk to see it: ALF Complete Series Region 2 Season 1 2 3 & 4 + ALF Cuddly Toy (Exclusive) New

I thought I had already posted about that. Saw it a couple of months ago, it's a French edition and looks neat.

I have an old computer that I don't use anymore. If I switch the settings on the DVD drive to Region 2 is that all I have to do in order to play the Alf DVDs from Germany. I'm considering buying them, but want to make sure I can play them before I shell out the money.

Worst case scenario, just buy a region free DVD player or find a way to make yours region free. Totally worth it.

If only we could get Mill Creek Entertainment to release the uncut episodes. They are re-releasing That 70's Show, 3rd Rock From the Sun and Roseanne with the uncut episodes at a budget price. These shows suffered from the same syndicated episodes when released from their original studio.

In order for me to play other region DVDs (like region 2) on my laptop, i use a program called AnyDVD.

found a good solution to region codes.. as it turns out must DVD players can be switched to region free. look up your dvd player in this website:

videohelp . com / dvdhacks
follow the instructions in the link

it worked for my dvd with no issue! however, if you do this it may void your warranty.

I don't think you can make old sitcoms into HD. Just the way they were shot. I could be wrong 'cause I am not an expert, but I think I read something like that.

They definitely wouldn't be HD, but they could be cleaned up a little bit.

after watching the uncut set of dvds.. i have noticed something.. the ending credits are always shown on top of a picture of some scene in that episode you just watched. with the german dvd's i have seen that some of the credits are on top of pictures that were apart of the cut scenes from the lionsgate dvd's. i wonder did they still leave these credits in the ending of the cut lionsgate episodes?

I'm definitely hoping for some uncut episodes either on TV or on DVD. Maybe they make a 'Best of' with uncut episodes ? I'm not holding my breath on uncut DVDs but the hope is still there and as far as I can see it a BluRay is a fat chance, I think the first sitcom to be released will be Seinfeld.

Just my personal opinion here, but I could really see the uncut DVDs happening after the movie.

When the original DVDs were released, it is my understanding (I could be wrong here, so someone can correct me) that the episodes used were the syndicated ones from when ALF was on A&E/Odyssey. They were already cleaned up. so why spend the extra $$$...right?

Since then, the full episodes HAVE been cleaned up and released in other countries (German DVD sets being an example). Whether that makes them easier to release over here I don't know. Mill Creek Entertainment has also taken it upon themselves to RE-RELEASE shows that were butchered in the same way as ALF (That 70s Show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Roseanne). The movie will definitely be a hit, so there would be boatloads of money in doing an un-syndicated release at that time.

http://www.millcreekent.com/

I'm not saying it will happen, but I am very confident we'll see something in the next 2-3 years. If no one opposes, I'm going to remain optimistic (but not OVERLY optimistic). :D

...but I can't see us getting the original beginning to Try to Remember.
