Re: Paul Fusco Captain Catgut Space Cats
It's a good theory. Though I'd prefer to think that the cat planet and Melmac don't exist in the same fictional universe. Either that or they do but Melmac leaves them alone for moral reasons. If the Melmacians were raiding a planet full of intelligent beings and eating them, that would make them th...

Re: Paul Fusco Captain Catgut Space Cats
I'm surprised the Cats' planet wasn't a victim of random raids by Melmacians. I can't see Melmacians being able to resist a planet full of cats that were probably as big as the average Melmacian. That's a lot of meat. Slap an apple in it's mouth and some stuffing where the sun don't shine and you ha...

Re: Your reaction to the cancellation of ALF?
Like Project ALF or not it could have been much much worse. Another show I was a fan of, Dinosaurs, ended with all the characters facing certain death due to an ice age accidently caused by the main character and the company he worked for. Even without Project ALF, at least they left the cliffhanger...

Re: Your reaction to the cancellation of ALF?
Project ALF might not have been perfect but it's a better conclusion than the alternative: Having Alf be snatched away by the alien task force to be dissected in some lab somewhere.

Re: Your reaction to the cancellation of ALF?
I remember watching the final episode and seeing the To Be Continued thing. I kept waiting for a conclusion that never came. For years I griped to anyone that would listen about the ending. Then Project ALF came out. Though not perfect at least it gave our favorite alien a happy ending.

Re: The latest on "ALF: The Movie"
The Smurfs movie wasn't that bad. It wasn't great by any means but it was watchable. While I too would prefer Alf be a puppet for the movie we have to be realistic. Puppets and animatronics aren't used nearly as much as CGI for creature effects these days. I hate it more than I can express in mere w...

In the 90s there was a show called Scorch ( I think ) that was about a dragon living with a human family. It only lasted a couple episodes before it was pulled from the air. Not much information on it exists online.

Re: ALF's on the Hub, starting tonight
I think the show you're referring to is Unhappily Ever After. It was more of a married With Children rip off than an Alf one. There was a show with a Dragon puppet, Scorch, that was the real Alf rip off. It only lasted a few episodes before being pulled from the air.

Re: How many watched during the original run?
I think I was nine or ten when Alf started airing in 1986. I watched and taped every episode and rewatched them countless times. I got the DVDs for Christmas a few years back and watching them again after about ten years I was surprised at how well I remembered certain episodes. I remember my mom go...

Re: ALF episode
They also left out that special two hour episode where Alf teams up with Jerry the mouse, Odie the Dog and Tweety Bird and ends up eating Garfield, Tom the cat and Sylvester. There's also a cameo by Heathcliff, I believe. You can see him laying on a plate with an apple in his mouth when Alf opens th...

Re: The latest on "ALF: The Movie"
The movie Ted proves that a small fuzzy creature can be done with CGI and done well. And despite my dislike for it I admit in some cases CGI is a necessity. The Transformers movies could never have been done without CGI, nor could Yoda's fight scenes in the prequels. But it is also possible to combi...

Re: Your Favorite ALF Quotes
Burglar ( seeing Alf ) Must be one of those talking dolls. Alf: Oh yeah? Ever have a talking doll rip out your voice box!? It's funny, as a kid I actually hated that line, because the idea of ALF being so violent was really scary. But now, Strangers in the Night is without a doubt my favorite episo...

Re: 50 Things Only '80s Kids Can Understand
That Vinyl ET doll is part of one of my favorite Christmas memories. I had finished unwrapping presents and I remember being sort of sad that I was done. That's when I remembered my stocking. And when I found it, there sticking out of the top was that ET doll. I was crazy about ET at the time. I was...

Re: The latest on "ALF: The Movie"
That's true. The whole thing was probably just as strange for ALF as it was for the Tanners. Imagine having to adjust to an entirely new world from the one you're used to. Living with a new species with new and strange customs you had to learn to adjust to. And all the while knowing you can never go...

[quote="andyalf"]Now the film to me seems even better- as they didnt contradicte the show in anyway and instead did a logical continuation to the show. Most films that come out based on previous TV shows tend to totally disregard past events and are considered "non canon" by fans...
