Re: Worst "Alf" ever?

It really makes you appreciate the Coleco version doesn't it?

Re: "Alf" on Family Guy

The neighbors are the Smiths from American Dad, Family Guy's sister show. The alien is Roger and he's a regular cast member on American Dad. Chances are his character is as much a reference to ET as it is to Alf. Although both Alf and ET are much nicer characters than Roger who is an alcoholic, drug...

Re: ALF unanswered questions

I don't think we're meant to think much about the whereabouts of Alf's ship. Doing so brings up too many logic problems. Because it would be nearly impossible for the Tanners to get it down without hiring someone to do it which would raise too many questions about it's origins. If left embedded in t...

Re: Media

The Hub definately sometimes airs Alf on Sunday nights. I know because I usually miss new episodes of Family Guy and American Dad in order to watch Alf on Sunday when it's on.

Re: An odd Alf related rumor I heard

I could picture it trying to eat Lucky. In the commercial the thing was serving up all these little animals for breakfast. The difference between Alf and Crispy? With Alf everything but cats are safe. With Crispy, NOTHING is safe. Not even humans.

Re: An odd Alf related rumor I heard

Plain tasting is putting it nicely. The stuff was terrible. It tasted like stale animal crackers. I do like the puppet design, but I'm glad it never really had anything to do with Alf. Alf's personality simply wouldn't fit with the cartoony look of the Crispy Critters puppet. I can't picture the CC ...

Re: Cartoons

That's true. Most 80's cartoons had killer theme songs. I still get the Gummi Bears theme song stuck in my head sometimes.

Re: Do you consider The Animated Series canon?

I think Alf was being sarcastic about the hairdryer thing. As for escape by spaceship, even though the average Melmacian citizen may not have had access to vehicles capable of space travel it's entirely possible that some of the planet's populace may have been evacuated right before the explosion by...

An odd Alf related rumor I heard

Back in the 80's there was a cereal called Crispy Critters. The commercial featured a wierd looking yellow creature puppet with a big nose and two fuzzy antennas. I remember reading somewhere that this was a rejected design for Alf. I kind of find that hard to believe though. While Alf is realistic ...

Re: Cartoons

Even though I grew up in the 80's and have a lot of fond memories of the decade I have to say most 80s cartoons were terrible. The Alf cartoons were pretty good as were the Real Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles. Transformers is watchable too but the rest is pretty much trash. 80's toys were great but ...

Re: I wish ALF was real!

Oh it would definately be worth it if you could afford it. And one of my cats is kind of annoying. Having Alf around to threaten to feed him to might help keep the cat in line.

Re: I wish ALF was real!

I love Alf but being on a fixed income I can barely afford to feed myself, let alone an alien with multiple stomachs. And that's not even taking into consideration Alf's destructive tendencies. Plus I have two cats which would find themselves constantly under attack were we to suddenly find ourselve...

Burglar ( seeing Alf ) Must be one of those talking dolls.

Re: Alf on the Simpsons

Well sure. Putting Alf on pogs would be about the only way to make the stupid things worthwhile. Alf actually appears twice on Family Guy. The first time is in a dream sequence. Alf flies by Peter's window Wizard Of Oz style and waves to him. The second time is an interview on TV where Alf talks abo...

Re: Merchandising?

It's a pretty cool idea but I'm not sure how easy it would be to do. Coleco probably owns the rights to the pattern for the original Alf plush and the design for the packaging and Coleco doesn't even exist anymore. They'd probably have to track down whoever has the rights to Coleco's stuff and pay t...

Re: Worst "Alf" ever?

I don't know. I'd say Mrs. Ochmonek did fairly well for someone who probably has no sculpting experience. I doubt I could create something like that out of mashed potatoes.

Re: What's everyones two favorite movies

Actually after giving it some thought I think Gremlins and the first Ninja Turtles movie are pretty much neck and neck for my #1 favorite. I've probably seen Gremlins a hundred times over the years and I saw TMNT four times in theatres alone. God only knows how many times I saw it once I got the vid...

Re: Merchandising?

Here's some more of my ideas: * They could make a life size ALF doll/toy that talks and moves, kind of like those fur-real pets, * build-a-bear could do a make your own ALF promotion like they did for alvin and the chipmunks, * Food companies could do ALF advertising by making special versions of t...

Re: What's everyones two favorite movies

Number one is easy. Gremlins. Number two not so much. I'm torn between ET, Labyrinth and the first Ninja Turtles movie.
