Re: #8: Don't It Make Your Brown Eyes Blue

This is one of the episodes I had on tape as a kid so I must have watched it hundreds of times back then. I gave it five stars. I still know the song by heart.

Re: ALF: The First Adventure (DOS) - Ending screen!

There will probably be a tie in game when the movie comes out. Unfortunately these types of games are rarely high quality. They're usually just thrown together as a quick attempt to cash in on the movie's fame. Alf deserves better than that. Whether he'll get it or not remains to be seen.

Re: American Dad RIPS OFF ALF Plot!

Actually the plot where a non human creature befriends a blind person is a fairly common plot. Off the top of my head I know it was done in both Gargoyles and Gummi Bears and The Thing from the Fantastic Four dated a blind girl for awhile in the comics.

Re: American Dad RIPS OFF ALF Plot!

I once spoke to someone with an interesting theory about Seth Macfarlane. He said that he didn't believe that Seth really cared about his creations, that they were just tools for him to express his rather crude sense of humor and a means to make money. As someone who used to create characters all th...

Re: American Dad RIPS OFF ALF Plot!

Yeah, I'd hardly call Seth a genius. I enjoy his programs to a point but they're filled with unlikeable characters that, while amusing in 30 minute snippets, are not characters one can really care about. Alf is a character I care about. Seth's characters are just something to laugh at while they're ...

Re: American Dad RIPS OFF ALF Plot!

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if Alf was inspired by ET. But considering they are two vastly different characters I'd hesitate to call it a rip off. As for American Dad in that episode Roger WASN'T kicked out of the house. He and Francine faked a kidnapping in order to prove that Stan cares about...

Re: Melmacian years.

Regarding Alf's attempt to date Lynn, I think the fact that he's an entirely different species is more questionable than the fact that he might be too old for her. Not in a creepy way. More in a "This makes no sense" way. Why would an alien from an entirely different world with entirely di...

Re: Alfs favorite food!?

I wonder if Alf would actually eat a cat raw like that. I love fried chicken but I can't see myself going out and eating a live one. Cats are basically the Melmacian equivalent to cows and chickens. Then again we are talking about an alien species. Melmacians may have no problem with eating live pre...

Re: Alfs favorite food!?

I doubt they'd ever have Alf actually catch and eat a cat onscreen. It's one think to joke about it and reference the fact that they eat cats on Melmac. But actually showing Alf catching and devouring a cat would be too gruesome. They're walking a fine line making jokes about killing and eating cats...

Re: ALF: The First Adventure (DOS) - Ending screen!

You're right. A point and click Maniac Mansion type game would probably fit best. They could remain faithful to the series and add plenty of Alf's trademark humor without adding nonsense like Alf killing bats with salami or Willie suddenly being a villain trying to keep Alf from fixing his ship for ...

Re: ALF: The First Adventure (DOS) - Ending screen!

Alf is one of those shows that doesn't really lend itself well to a video game format. There's really no action or conflict, at least none that would be reproduced well in video game form. Does that mean if an Alf game ever came out for a system I owned I wouldn't snatch it up in a heartbeat? Hell n...

Re: Photos of Melmacians in the laundry room

What I wonder is if it's a good idea for those to be hanging up. What if someone outside the family saw them? Of course I suppose it could always be explained away as a poster bought at a store. Lots of posters have fantastic and realistic images on them but nobody thinks they're real. But then a ph...

Yeah Alf has a terrible habit of spending money that ain't his. Good God! Can you imagine what'd be like if Alf was on earth now with the internet and places like eBay and Amazon? Alf would have the Tanners living on the streets!

Re: What's NEW in your collection?

That brings up an interesting question. Why is it that in science fiction it's always assumed aliens will live so much longer than us? And why is non human blood always green? Both these tropes apply to Alf at least according to him. It's weird that Melmacians know exactly what age they'll die too. ...

Re: ALF: The First Adventure (DOS) - Ending screen!

The plot doesn't make much sense. Why would Willie want to prevent Alf from fixing his spaceship? Just think of the money he'd save on food if Alf left! Plus vet bills for Lucky, who I'm certain has a lot of psychological issues from living with an alien who is constantly trying to eat him. Kitty ne...

Re: #1: A.L.F. (Pilot Episode)

What can I say? This is the episode that started it all for me. As I parked my nine year old tail in front of the TV to watch this new show about a funny alien living with an earth Family, I had no idea how big a part of my life the thing I was about to see would become. It's the episode that introd...

Cool! I never even knew this game existed. All I knew of was the Sega Master System game. And is it me or does Skip look like someone cut off his forearm at the elbow and replaced it with a banana?
